“Bigger and better! That is how we’ve planned the marathon for this year,” said Bill Barry, El Paso Marathon race director for 2007 & 2008. “We were extremely pleased with the response from runners last year. We know this year it will be bigger and better.” He added, “We could not have done it without the support of our sponsors, Michelob Ultra for the full marathon and Good Time Stores for the half marathon.”

Additional Information
Shed your layers at the start and pack dry clothes and your favorite post-race snack for the finish. You'll receive a gear check bag and label at the Expo. Your goodie bag will serve as your gear bag on race day.
Bags must be claimed by 2 p.m. on race day. DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag; the event is not responsible for any lost items.
2009 Chip Design
The 3rd Annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon, the El Paso Half Marathon and 5K will utilize the computerized ChampionChip timing system, which records each runner's actual running time to the second.
Chip timing starts a runner's time when they reach the start line instead of when the gun goes off. Your finish time is calculated precisely when you cross the finish line.
Marathoners will also receive a 10K, half marathon and 20 mile split time.
All age group awards will be determined by chip time, but in accordance with USATF rules. You must pick up your black loaner chip along with your race number at the Health Expo on Saturday, February 28th. All black loaner chips must be surrendered at the finish line.
If you do not wear your computer chip you will not be timed. For more information about how ChampionChip timing works, visit www.championchip.com.
Race numbers and timing chips must be picked up at the Health & Fitness Expo; they cannot be mailed and will NOT be available for pick-up on race day. You must pick up your own race number and timing chip – NO EXCEPTIONS. You’ll need to show your race number to pick up your T-shirt and goodie bag.
Boston Qualification
Both gun and chip time results are sent to the Boston Athletic Association, which accepts chip time as a qualifying time. Qualification times earned at our 2009 marathon will be valid for 2009 and 2010 Boston entry.
