What is the route?

The Marathon will start at the east El Paso campus of the The Hospitals of Providence, 3280 Joe Battle. Buses will transport all marathon runners to start line and the last bus will leave the finish line area promptly at 5:30 a.m.

Where is El Paso?

El Paso, Texas is located where Texas, New Mexico and Mexico meet. El Paso elevation is 3,800 feet (1140 m) above sea level with the highest peak being the majestic Franklin Mountains with an elevation of 7,192 feet.

Who is coming to race?

Last year’s race included runners from more than 33 states and 4 countries.

Is the course a certified Boston qualifier?

Yes! The Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon is indeed a Boston qualifier race.
Elevation loss from start to finish is 1584 ft. making for some very fast times.

How is the weather?

According to the El Paso Weather Bureau, The sun shines 302 days per year on average in El Paso. We expect (but can’t guarantee) weather to be within 41º for the low and 67º for the high temperature.

Who is behind this?

El Paso Marathon Foundation is a non-profit organization that its purpose is to showcase El Paso, increase overall health awareness in the region and help other non profit organization.

Where can I pick up my t-shirt, bib number and timing chip?

Pick up your t-shirt, bib number and timing chip Saturday, February 18th at the El Paso Convention & Performing Arts Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza from 8:00 a.m to 6:30 p.m.
There will be no race day registration or packet pick up.

Where can people park on race day?

Parking will be available in the Convention Center parking garage at the intersection of 1 Civic Center Plaza and S. Santa Fe St.
Garage will be open at 4:45 a.m.

Where does the race start?

The Full Marathon race will start at the Hospitals of Providence East Campus at the corner of Joe Battle and Edgemere.
The Half Marathon & 5K races will start at Durango and W. Franklin and finish in Southwest University Park.

How will Marathon participants get to the starting line?

Buses will load full marathon participants starting at 5 a.m. on race day at the corner of Durango and W. Franklin streets.

Will there be clothing drop off available on race day?

Yes. Bring your ‘Packet’ bag on race day to stash your clothing in. Markers will be available for you to write your bib number on the bag for you to match when picking up.
Do not put any valuables in these bags, ie. Cell phones, money, ID’s etc.
There will be designated areas at both start lines for clothing drop off.

How will water stations be positioned?

The Full Marathon will have water stations at every 2 miles up to mile 16 then a station every mile. The Half Marathon will have a water station every 2 miles up to mile 8 then share water station with the Marathon every mile back to the finish line.

What will be at the water stations?

Water of course, and Gatorade electrolyte drink. There will also be Honey Stinger energy gel at mile 10 and 20 of the Marathon and at mile 6 for the Half Marathon.
Relief stations will also be at every water station.
There will also be plenty of entertainment and enthusiasm at all water stations!

Will there be any post-race refreshments?

Participants will be treated to post-race refreshments courtesy of Michelob Ultra, the Garden & Crave restaurants & L & F distributors. Michelob Ultra for participants over 21, chocolate milk, water, fruit & burritos for everyone. There will be food vendors in the finish line area and the Garden will be open for a fabulous post-race brunch.
Only participants will be allowed in the post-race food area and must be wearing their race bib to gain entry.

Is there a time limit for the race?

Yes. The race is permitted through the City of El Paso for 6 hours. Anyone who has not reached the 20 mile mark by 12pm will be picked up and transported to the finish line. Roads will be opening to vehicular traffic at 1pm.

What time do the races start?

The full marathon and half marathon will start at 7 a.m. and the 5K will start at 7:15 a.m.

What kind of energy gels and electrolyte replacement drink will be on the course?

Skratch electrolyte drink. There will also be Honey Stinger Gel energy gel at mile 10 and 20 of the Marathon and at mile 6 for the Half Marathon.

Will there be parking be available on the day of the Expo, Saturday, February 18th?

There will be limited parking available in the Convention Center parking garage. General parking is also available at numerous street meters as well as the Union Plaza Transit Terminal garage located at 400 W. San Antonio. The fee for the Union Plaza Terminal garage is $5.00.
